1980 START-UP OF NOVOVORONEZH NPP, UNIT 5 - THE FIRST WWER-1000 UNIT
The layout with protective containment, resistant to full pressure occurring at maximum design basis accidents with rupture of the main coolant pipeline DN 850 mm, was designed for the first time in this country in WWER-1000 V-187 reactor plant design, built at Novovoronezh NPP, Unit 5. Many new technical solutions were adopted to improve safety of nuclear power plants in the course of WWER-1000 Unit designing. One of them was the requirement to provide a containment of the reactor compartment, intended for localization of radioactive fission products in the event of loss of primary coolant accident. The reactor compartment has acquired its modern appearance since Unit 1 of Novovoronezh NPP. The containment was a high cylindrical structure with a dome-like spherical top made of prestressed reinforced concrete. The inner diameter of the containment is 45 m and the height is 67.5 m. Construction of such containments has considerably improved NPP architectural appearance.
1980 START-UP OF BELOYARSK NPP, UNIT 3, WITH STEAM GENERATOR DESIGNED BY OKB GIDROPRESS» AS PART OF BN-600 REACTOR PLANT
In April 1980, the start-up and operation of Beloyarsk NPP, Unit 3 with BN-600 and PGN-200M steam generators began. Unit 3 of Beloyarsk NPP is still in operation.

Units 1 and 2 of Rovno NPP were built according to V-213 reactor plant NPP design.
1981 OKB GIDROPRESS WAS AWARDED THE ORDER OF THE RED BANNER OF LABOR
The state leadership highly appreciated the achievements made. Work on creation of 705 and 705k nuclear submarines was awarded the Lenin and State Prizes. On December 16, 1981 more than 2000 state awards were given to those who created unique ships in accordance with the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. OKB GIDROPRESS was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. V.V. Stekolnikov, the Head and Chief Designer of OKB GIDROPRESS, was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor.

1982 START-UP OF SOUTH UKRAINIAN NPP, UNIT 1 (UKRAINE)
V-302 reactor plant was only used for South Ukrainian NPP, Unit 1. The V-302 reactor plant was made with a high degree of unification in the use of equipment developed for the V-187 reactor plant. All equipment and systems were modified to protect them from seismic impacts, and the RCPS supporting frames were replaced with reinforced concrete floors. The first set of standard ShEM drives for Unit 1 of South Ukrainian NPP was manufactured, tested and delivered by OKB GIDROPRESS.

1982 START-UP OF PAKS NPP, UNIT 1 (HUNGARY)
Units 3 and 4 of Kola NPP, Units 1 and 2 of Rovno NPP, four Units of Paks NPP in Hungary, four Units of Dukovany NPP in the Czech Republic, two Units of Bohunice NPP in Slovakia, Unit 5 of Nord NPP in Germany, Units 1 and 2 of Mochovce NPP in Slovakia were constructed in accordance with V-213 reactor plant design.
1984 START-UP OF ZAPOROZHYE NPP, UNIT 1 (UKRAINE)
Unit 1 of Zaporozhzhye NPP (Ukraine) was launched.
1984 OKB "GIDROPRESS" WAS AWARDED THE ORDER OF LABOR OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA
On March 5, 1984, OKB «GIDROPRESS» was awarded the Order of Labor for many years of successful cooperation in the development of nuclear power equipment in Czechoslovakia in accordance with the Decree of the Presidium of the Government of Czechoslovakia.

1985 START-UP OF DUKOVANY NPP, UNIT 1 (CZECHOSLOVAKIA)
Four Units of Dukovany NPP were built in Czechoslovakia in accordance with the design of nuclear power plants with V-213 reactor plant.
1987 START-UP OF KHMELNITSKY NPP, UNIT 1 (UKRAINE)
Unit 1 of Khmelnitsky NPP (Ukraine) was launched.
1988 BEGINNING OF COOPERATION WITH INDIA
An agreement between the Governments of India and the USSR on cooperation in the construction of a nuclear power plant in India was signed on November 20, 1988.
