OKB “GIDROPRESS” took part in the 27th AER Symposium
OKB “GIDROPRESS” specialists took part in the 27th AER Symposium held on 17-20 October 2017 in Munich. The symposium continued a series of annual meetings of International Association «Atomic Energy Research». A subject of these meetings is study of VVER physics and safety. This year the organizer of symposium was a German institute GRS GmbH. Representatives of following countries took part in the forum: Finland, Russia, Hungary, Germany, Czechia, South Korea, Byelorussia, USA, Ukraine, Armenia, China, Slovakia, Bulgaria.
AER («Atomic Energy Research») is an international community of researchers, designers and Operators from various countries where VVER technology is used. The main objective is to study issues of designing and safe operation of VVER reactor plants. The community includes 23 organizations from nine countries. Nevertheless, AER meetings are open also for other organizations which are not its members. Besides, the meetings can be attended by countries, where there are no NPPs with VVER, but still they are interested in study of this technology.
AER mission is exchange of information between designers, Operators, research institutes, as well as organizations licensing activities in the field of nuclear energy use. All activities of the community is distributed on topical groups which study practical scientific and technical issues in different directions and share their experience during annual meetings. Both meetings of several working groups as well as common symposium of representatives of different directions are held every year.
The symposium was held in a section format. There were such sections as dynamical processes and safety analyses, experiments and code validation, spent fuel treatment, CFD code use, and others.
OKB “GIDROPRESS” is a permanent AER member and regular participant of its meetings. At this year symposium OKB “GIDROPRESS” presented five papers. Since the enterprise is the author of designs of VVER reactor plants, its works always arose high interest and demonstrate high state-of-the-art level of scientific and technical development at the international scene.
