OKB “GIDROPRESS” has performed a hydraulic test of FA AES-2006 mock-up
OKB “GIDROPRESS” has performed a hydraulic test of a modernized fuel assembly FA AES-2006 mock-up. The aim of the test is to determine hydraulic characteristics, i.e. factors of flow resistance of FA mock-up and its elements. These hydraulic characteristics have an influence on the coolant flow rate through the reactor. A distinguishing feature of the tested mock-up is absence of mounting of fuel elements at the lower grid. This technical solution improves FA maintainability. The test results has shown acceptability of new FA hydraulic characteristics and given information for further FA structure improvement. The hydraulic tests of FA AES-2006 mock-up were performed at the bench for hot running-in and mass flow testing. Benches for hot running-in are intended for life, qualification, typical and acceptance testing of fuel assemblies for VVER-type reactors and other elements of reactor plant structure under thermo-hydraulic conditions maximally close to the field conditions.
